Public Policy Trainee

We have an opportunity for a Trainee to join our Public Policy team at Cambre Associates. Could this be you? Can you succeed in a fast-paced environment juggling many tasks and responsibilities? Do you have a profound understanding of EU policy making? And do you often find yourself thinking of new ways to communicate with political stakeholders? In this role, you will actively participate in monitoring, analysing and reporting on policy and legislative developments. Although the exact nature of responsibilities will depend on client needs, you will work on the development and implementation of public policy and advocacy programmes for clients active in a range of different sectors. In addition, you will support us in organising and participate in a range of meetings, events and conferences.


  • Contribute to monitoring key EU issues and their impact for clients
  • Identify and flag up new issues, threats and opportunities for clients
  • Support with executing Public Affairs strategies
  • Draft briefings, reports, updates and create other public affairs materials and tools
  • Assist with development of presentations to and for clients, meetings and events.
  • Assist with organisation of and attend events and conferences

 Required Skills

  • Excellent written and oral English knowledge
  • Excellent analytical and written skills
  • University level education
  • Interest in developing consultancy skills is essential
  • Ability to multi-task and a proactive, self-starting ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Good team player with attention to detail and proven writing, research, and organisation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • An outgoing and dynamic personality

 Desired skills

  • Good understanding of the functioning of the EU and EU institutions
  • Knowledge of policy areas in relation to, amongst others, digital, environment, health, energy, transport, and other areas would be an asset.
  • Relevant work experience in the EU/international environment, e.g. internship in EU institution, trade association or consultancy – preferably in Brussels
  • Interest in digital forms of communication and a good understanding of the social media landscape
